Position Title: Visiting Assistant Professor

Duties and Responsibilities: he Department of Mathematics & Statistics in the College of Science & Engineering seeks a dynamic colleague committed to fostering teaching and student development in a program that values creativity, collaboration, learner-centered pedagogy, and diversity. The new faculty member will join a collaborative group of 22 mathematics, statistics and mathematics education faculty who serve the entire campus community.

We seek applications for one full-time, Visiting Assistant Professor of Mathematics position to begin in fall semester of 2018. The successful candidate will be expected to teach 15 contact hours per semester to undergraduate and graduate students. Primary teaching responsibilities will be teaching mathematics content courses. Other duties may include service (both internal and external to campus).

The Department of Mathematics & Statistics in the College of Science and Engineering strives to educate students at the University so that they are prepared to use mathematics intelligently in their chosen fields of study and to understand mathematics as it affects their lives and participation in public affairs. The Department grants BS in Mathematics as well as MS in Mathematics. We are in the process of developing a Ph.D. program. The Mathematics Program provides its majors and graduate students with preparation for careers in mathematics, education, science, and commerce, as well as providing a solid foundation for further study in mathematics. We also strive to serve our community by providing expertise to local schools, industry, and business.

Position Qualifications: Required Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics or Statistics
• The evidence of effective classroom instruction

Preferred Qualifications:
• Breadth and depth of mathematical knowledge,
• Publication in scholarly journals,
• Working with diverse student populations at the college level,
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
