Company Information: The University of Florida Health Cancer Center (UFHCC) ( consists of more than 200 basic, translational and population based scientists and clinicians at the University of Florida who conduct research for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. The center’s collaborative research model encourages the translation of basic laboratory findings to novel therapies.

The multidisciplinary membership of the Cancer Center is its strength. Researchers are drawn from throughout UF, including six colleges within the Health Science Center – Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Public Health and Health Professions, and Veterinary Medicine as well as the Colleges of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Health and Human Performance, Journalism and Communications, and Agricultural and Life Sciences.

Position Title: Director, Division of Quantitative Sciences

Duties and Responsibilities: The University of Florida Health Cancer Center (UFHCC) invites applications for a full-time established Biostatistician to serve as Director of the Division of Quantitative Sciences and the Biostatistics Shared Resource of the UFHCC. This Division is charged with integrating biostatistical support for: a) investigator-initiated clinical research, including design and review of developing studies and monitoring ongoing studies; b) the protocol review and monitoring processes for UFHCC; c) pre-clinical research design and statistical analyses to assist investigators in the preparation of manuscripts and grant applications; d) population-based research studies, including pragmatic clinical trials and research using databases of electronic health records, Medicare payment databases and cancer registry databases; e) statistical aspects of analysis of next generation sequencing and other large “-Omic” data sets; f) Organization of short courses and journal clubs for trainees and faculty to increase UFHCC member knowledge of biostatistics. The Division Director is also responsible for recruitment of additional faculty and staff to the Division and for fostering collaborations with cancer-focused quantitative scientists throughout the Health Science Center and UF, including health care economists, psychometricians, and quantitative psychologists.

Position Qualifications: The successful candidate should have with a background of working in a complex collaborative research group such as the Biostatistics Shared Resource for a NCI-Designated Cancer Center, a NIH-funded Center for Translational Sciences or a statistical data coordinating center. An independent research program in biostatistical research methods is desirable but not required. Preference will be given to applicants with a record of accomplishment in transdisciplinary team science, collaborative biostatistics or informatics with an emphasis on clinical and translational science, especially in cancer, and applicants with a successful record of teaching and/or mentoring of junior faculty, students and other trainees.

The candidate should have a PhD or equivalent degree in statistics or biostatistics, relevant research training and experience, and be eligible for appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. This position reports directly to the Director of the UF Health Cancer Center with an academic appointment in the Department of Biostatistics.

Salary Range: Commensurate based on experience
